There Really Is A Time Coming

I and the sun got up about the same time today. Ran a tempered Pine Banks loop with the sky flaring orange. We live on a hill and so the end-game of any run is an exhausting walk uphill. Got up the 22 steps to our little house and crashed onto the floor.

Then a series of weird questions pummeled my head:

What if I couldn’t get back up?

What if I couldn’t run in the morning?

What if I couldn’t walk?

What if I was paralyzed?

What if I lost all my money and income and house and livelihood?

What if everyone who was sound asleep upstairs never woke up?

What if I lost everyone?

What if the church imploded in a mess of infighting and backstabbing and other related madness?

What if someone launched a smear campaign of lies that ruined my reputation and destroyed Seven Mile?

And then I though how I really, really, really want the answer to be… as long as I have God, I’m good. Because that would mean that the Gospel is true and His love is unshakable and no matter what happens in this life there is one coming that will make the temporary sufferings of this one seem like a flash and that the glory of God’s grace has a chance to be super magnified in me and that I store up a reward that is incomprehensible right now and that there really is a time coming when all things will be made right.

A time when there will be no jogging heart attacks.

A time when there will be no paralysis.

A time when there will be no smear campaigns.

A time when there will be no death.

A time when there will be no hunger.

A time when there will no homelessness.

A time when there will be no church splits.

A time when there will be no sin.

A time when there will be no tragedy.

A time when earth and heaven will be in lockstep with Christ reigning and us banging in our glorified bodies and perfected souls in the world-as-it-is-supposed-to-be without end.

Yeah.
